All forms of asbestos have been banned in Australia since 2003, but Australians are still at risk of contracting mesothelioma and asbestos-related diseases.
Australians can be exposed to asbestos in many ways, such as:
•Through home renovations on older properties
•Uncontrolled exposure during natural disasters
(Black Saturday in Victoria, and the Queensland Floods)
•At worksites - both public and private spaces
